Frequently Asked Questions

 The cost of the training is $138.99 per person. We do offer a 10% discount if there are more than 10 people who need to take the training and exam. We can accommodate up to 30 people per training session.   

Typically, there needs to be at least four people who require training and testing in order for us to come to your location. However, if you are located in the Chicago metropolitan area or nearby surrounding suburbs, we can conduct the training if there are at least 3 people, schedule permitting.

 We do offer very limited individual training sessions throughout the year, but we do not have a set schedule or routine trainings for individuals. For trainings that have been set up for individuals, visit our website under the  Individuals – Workshops section for the latest information 

Total training and exam is 4 hours and 5 minutes; 3 hours for the training, a 5 minute break, and then the exam, which people typically complete in an hour.    Course Completion Certificates are provided to the attendee immediately following the training session.  Test results are emailed to the attendee within 24 hours of taking the exam.  Certificates for those who passed the exam are emailed to the attendee with 48 hours of taking the exam, and should be submitted with your notary application.  Those who did not pass will receive re-test dates information.

Both are taken on the same day - the exam immediately following the training after a five minute break.  

If by chance an attendee fails the test, the attendee has two more opportunities to pass the exam. We work with your facility to schedule a 2nd testing date where we come back out to proctor another exam for anyone who didn't pass. There is no additional cost for this. If for any reason a 3rd test is required, we would schedule that at your facility. The two re-test sessions must be scheduled and taken within 30 days of the training. If anyone fails the exam a third time, the State requires them to re-take the training course. They can re-take it with us for a discounted price or they can choose to use another provider.  If you fail to show up to take a second or third exam, it will be counted as a failed exam.

We will offer live, real-time online webinar training, with a test immediately following the training. However, this service is not yet available. We do not have a timeframe on when it will be. Please continue to check the website for details. 

We do not offer this type of training, and will not in the future. For this type of training, we do not recommend any specific vendor, but you can visit the National Notary Association’s website to see if that will work for you.

 Each notary must have their own Illinois-compliant notary journal. Illinois has very specific notary journal requirements that the journals at the local Staples or Office Max do not meet the requirements. We do sell compliant journals online at Amazon ($14.99 each), on our website at under Notary Products ($11.99 each), and we also bring journals to our training sessions so they are available for purchase. The journals purchased during a scheduled training are the most discounted, at $10 per journal. The employer may have a "community" journal, but then the notaries would need to record all notary entries in BOTH journals simultaneously.  There are exceptions for notaries employed at law firms. 

Each notary must have their own notary stamp that must include their notary commission number. If you are using stamps for acknowledgements or jurats or for passport notarizations, then the office can have a "notary station" where all notaries can use those stamps.   

Our services do not include providing bond or E&O insurance services, but we do offer recommendations if people need help in this area.

We can assist in providing the notarization of the application that needs to be submitted to the Secretary of State following the training and exam. There is a $5 fee for the notarization for each application needing to be notarized, and we can ensure all items required for the submission are included with the application. But the final submission process of the application and test completion certificate must be completed by each individual applicant.

This is an ideal setting so long as it can comfortably fit attendees within that space. The training area should be set up classroom style with adequate space between each person, since it is the same setting that will be used to administer and proctor the exam.

Yes we do. The sessions would scheduled back-to-back on the same day. 

Annual is for renewing notaries whose current commission expires in 2027 or 2028 and they have not taken any mandatory training yet. New notaries or current notaries whose commission expires in 2026 or sooner will need to take the New Notary 101 mandatory training and test.

Yes, we do offer training to Supervisors/Managers of notary staff.  This is currently offered in a live webinar training format and is about 2.5 hours in length. This course will teach you how to properly execute the responsibilities of an Illinois notary public in face-to-face transactions only. As there is no testing for this workshop, this training will not satisfy the mandatory testing requirement to receive a notary commission. For Supervisors/Managers who oversee staff that conduct remote online notarizations and/or electronic notarizations, we recommend taking the full mandatory notary training for effective supervision of notary staff.

If you don't see a date that works, reach out via email to info@romanendeavors.com with an alternate date and we will try to accommodate your schedule.   We typically require a 50% deposit to reserve your training date/time, and the balance is due the day of the training and exam.
